Apopka Halloween House History

2011 A lot of new additions this year.  We added the wishing well where you could peek in and make all of your nightmares come true.  We had our gatekeepter welcoming you to the graveyard while our creepy ghoul rose from behind his grave with his lantern to help guide the way.  Once you thought you were safe at the end of the graveyard, our zombie jumped out of his grave to say hello.  We also had our jumpy clown popping out on the porch to say hello.  Our new rotting skeleton joined in on the seance in the dining room.  along with many small surprises and changes, it was all in all a great year!  Again, we figure about 1,500 visited the house.

2010 For 2010 we made three new additions to the graveyard.  First, our zombie gravelifter greeted people as they made their way to the front of the house.  Next, as you made your way to the door our animated skeleton popped out of his coffin to say hello.  Also as you made your way down the graveyard path our Zombie in a barrel popped up for a good laugh at your expense.  Inside the house we added our Butcher Shop.  Where you could sample some of the finest body parts.  Our 11th year in the books.  Another great one! A fun time was had by everyone!

2009 For 2009 we were happy to introduce several new things.  Michael Myers stood guard at the front of the House.  Many stood and wondered..... is he real?  We also added an Executioner who invited people to "lose a little off the top!!" Also new this year were the Zombies walking across the front window.  We added a logo to the driveway and a human body part butcher block.

All in all a good year.  Thanks to everyone who came by.   We were happy to get through this year.  We were short handed personnel wise, and suffered many last minute technical failures, and yet got it done and had a great time.  See everyone NEXT year!!  (YES - we wil be back next year!)

2008 When we look back in a few years we will remember 2008 as a year of economic lows. That was the case for the Halloween House as well. This year saw very few changes or upgrades. We added just a few tombstones to the yard. We also upgraded the lighting of the props with some new LED fixtures. 2008 also saw the introduction of The Stranger. We also moved Zultan our resident fortune teller to the front porch. For two years he sat in the house and hardly anyone went to see him. So like most of the Nation we put 2008 in our rear view mirror and look forward to 2009 and the better days the surely are ahead of us!
2007 We saw new additions in the yard including our Grim Reaper welcoming you to the Graveyard. Also our Mummy had a few things to say to you as you made your way through. Inside the house you saw the debut of our skelton prisoner who was just looking for someone to let him out of his cage. And last but not least "Jigsaw" pedalled his way into your heart greeting you as you came up the walk and he tried to follow you home as you left. Again over 1500 visitors came to see us and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves!
2006 I promised you our biggest and best effort yet. You will not believe your eyes. There were more places to go, more things to see and plenty of frightfully fun surprises!! Can't wait for next year! Even the local television media showed up!
2005 New for this year we added even more changing portraits.  Chuckles the Clown stood guard of our candy supply. The Ring Girl made her debut and sat to enjoy a little of the cursed movie..What was that did you say you watched? What's that? You heard a phone ring..Uh oh...Well I do indeed - Hope to see you next year. Also for the first time we allowed our mortal visitors to walk through the graveyard. One of our residents didn't like this much as he kept popping up from behind his tombstone to see what all the commotion was about. And finally our lovely lonely bride stood guard by the front porch and sounded off as our visitors passed by.  Over 1200 Visitors!!!
2004 Our biggest effort yet... More tombstones in the yard, bigger louder sound, a ghost groom to join our ghost bride, and our friend hanging around in the gallows. If you came in the house this year you noticed our collection of ghastly implements in the display case. And did those portraits change when I walked by them?? We were also joined this year by our frightfully lovely evil schoolgirl. Top all that off with our biggest advertising effort ever and over 700 people came by to join the fun. This was also the year we officially went online with our own site!! Thanks Carlos!!!
2003 More props , more characters!!! This was the year Jason and Freddy joined us. We also added our ghostly bride in the upstairs window. This was the year we allowed people to walk into the haunt for the first time. Oh yes and the advertising... We put out a lot of fliers that year and the crowd was near 500 people!!

2002 More props!! More tombstones, more light!, We started with the interior decorations. We added our dining room seance and our greeter ghoul. This was the year we also added live characters to the haunt. Welcome Michael Myers!! This was the first year we advertised . It was also our biggest year to date attendance wise.

2001 We added our first props, A coffin , some tombstones, fog, and officially switched our theme song to The Michael Myers theme. We also added spider webs to the windows a little black light and away we went. Again the crowds grew and the response was very favorable.
From Humble beginnings...
It was Halloween 2000. Darkness began to fall on our not so haunted house. We had always wanted to do a Haunted house but alas it was too late this year. Then I thought all is not lost. Being a lighting designer I do have quite a few special effects here at the house. So a special effect here , a spot light there. Mix in some scary music and the Apopka Halloween House was born. Just from the hour or so of work we put in the response was very positive... So we vowed that come 2001 we would do more.
